A twelve-part series was published online and in the print edition of Der Tagesspiegel. It is the result of a collaboration between Prof. Dr. Lars Bullinger (Director of the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Tumor Immunology at Charité) and Sascha Karberg (Head of Health & Science, Der Tagesspiegel) with journalist Alexander Schlichter. Stiftung Charité funded the team as a science x media tandem. Through text, video and podcast, the series takes the interested public behind the scenes of how researchers, patients, doctors and regulatory bodies work together to turn an idea born out of basic research into a personalized, potentially life-saving medicine. At its center: CAR-T cell therapy for certain types of cancer, administered at the university hospital in Berlin.
