Podcast: „In Behandlung. Mentale Gesundheit, ADHS und Autismus zwischen Sensibilisierung und Hype“

A new five-part podcast series, created as part of our science x media tandem program, examines how society’s approach to mental health and diagnostic culture is changing.

Whether on TikTok, Instagram, or in everyday conversation, terms from psychiatry and psychology have entered the mainstream. For many people affected, diagnoses such as ADHD and autism offer an explanation that brings relief, along with access to necessary care. At the same time, experts warn of the dilution of clinical conditions, ‘trendy’ diagnoses, and the premature pathologization of everyday experiences. Where does genuine awareness end, and where does the hype begin? Senior physician Dr. Merve Fritsch (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) and freelance journalist Noelle O’Brien-Coker explore this question in their five-part podcast In Behandlung: Mentale Gesundheit, ADHS und Autismus zwischen Sensibilisierung und Hype (“Treating: Mental Health, ADHD, and Autism between Awareness and Hype”). The series is available now on Podigee and all major podcast platforms (in German).
