“Funding for the project ”Characterization of early indicators for severe complications from SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and translation of findings into globally applicable awareness campaigns" contributed to advancing the understanding and initial description of the so-called pre-VITT syndrome as a prodromal stage of the potentially fatal vaccine complication vaccine-induced thrombocytopenia with thrombosis (VITT; WHO synonym: TTS). At the same time, the project contributed to establish a specific treatment pathway. In addition to scientific publications and the dissemination of findings at regionally focused conferences in regions of the Global South, it was a major achievement that the findings funded by Stiftung Charité/BlH were adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its guidelines."
