“The primary subject of the present pilot study is the evaluation of a gesture-controlled video game platform (Memore) in the geriatric clinic. On the basis of qualitative usability questionnaires carried out, the aim was to determine whether Memore can be implemented in a geriatric institution as an additional self-program. Furthermore, the additional benefit is to be classified by multidimensional analyses of cognition, affect, mobility and strength. A total of 28 inpatient subjects aged 61 to 91 years participated in the study. The primary conclusion of the examinations is that an implementation of the platform cannot be realized as an independent program in the geriatric clinic without personnel accompaniment. Further optimizations (hardware and software as well as a more structured integration of the video game platform in the geriatric ward) would have to be established.”
