Mathias Krisam
“Since 2016, Charité International Cooperation has offered the opportunity for medical students from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin to combine curriculum-based research work with a four week stay in Nairobi. The medical students conduct research on health-related topics together with fellow students from the University of Nairobi Medical School, who in turn come to Berlin for four weeks to collect data analogously to the German context. In this way, one Kenyan and one German student always work on the same topic. New is the partnership design. Africa was chosen because, despite the relevance of health issues there, only a few European medical faculties offer a bilateral exchange with a medical faculty there. This is a sign that north south cooperation is only a win-win situation for both sides if they are at eye level.”
